Introduction to Self Defense
Day One
We start with punch defenses because this offers the opportunities to de-escalate the confrontation and establish good positioning. Worst case scenario: you also have more time to react when the attack happens.
Grappling distance is closer than striking distance. The opponent can grab some part of you. It's going to important to establish a frame, and then use your opponent's energy to reclaim positional advantage.
Day Two
All fights go to the ground eventually. Your assailant is over you and punches are raining down. This portion of the seminar is where we will put some basic tools in your ground game toolbelt.
Now we test your mettle. You will be surrounded by fellow students and, at beginner speed, you'll be attacked in a random way, by random order. You will be asked to stay calm, and apply what you've learned over the last two days.
